Care and Usage Daily cleaning and care of your magnetic sign product is essential to the longevity of the sign and the surface it is applied to. Without proper care, the effects of leaving magnetic signage in place for long periods of time can damage the surface of an automobile or cause the magnet to become tightly affixed to the surface.
Step-by-Step Cleaning Instructions Magnetic sheet should be checked daily so that the magnet and the vehicle surface are free from debris. Dirt material between the magnet and vehicle can damage your vehicle's finish. If necessary, clean your magnetic sheet as follows: Step 1, Clean Front Side Clean the facing side of the magnet sheet with water and mild detergent. Step 2, Clean Magnetic Side Also clean the magnetic (brown) side of the magnetic sheet with water and mild detergent. Step 3, Prep Vehicle Surface Vehicle surface should be freshly waxed. Allow wax to harden for 48 hours before applying magnetic sheet. For new vehicles, or newly painted vehicles, allow 90 days before applying magnetic sheet. Wipe the surface of the vehicle with a clean dry cloth before application, to ensure removal of all dust and lint. Step 4, Apply Magnetic Sheet Carefully align one edge of the magnetic sheet to the vehicle surface. Slowly let the remainder of the sheet apply itself to the vehicle surface. Be careful to not allow air pockets under the sheet. If the magnet isn't aligned correctly, start with one edge and completely remove the magnet, then re-apply. Note: It is best to apply magnetic sheet when the temperature of the magnet is near room temperature, and the outside weather is pleasant, but not extremely hot or cold.
Tips for Magnetic Sheet Users Surface Preparation The magnetic sheet and metal surface should be clean and dry. For outdoor applications, such as car signs, the metal surface to which the magnet is applied should be waxed. Application Magnetic sheets adhere best to flat or slightly curved surfaces. If the magnet has been placed incorrectly, carefully remove and reapply the magnet. DO NOT PULL the magnet to realign it; the resistance due to high magnetic strength can cause the magnet to stretch. Insure that the entire magnet is applied against the metal surface and all air pockets have been pressed away. Magnets are more pliable and easier to apply when near room temperature. Storage Magnetic pieces should be stored flat or in rolls. Do not store magnet-to-magnet. When stored in rolls, the laminate should be on the OUTSIDE to prevent wrinkles. Temperature and Storage Guidelines Temperature Magnets are designed to withstand a variety of temperature ranges. Recommend using magnets within a range of 0°F and 150°F.
